-1, -3: Hard Enameled, Gold Plated, Mirror-like Polished and shall match The Institute
of Heraldry (TIOH) Metal Finish Chip Number 6.
-2: Dull, Flat Black Enamel
NOTES:
1. The term (REF) refers to the measurements taken from the Government furnished
hub or die.
2. Enameled areas shall be as indicated. The color shall conform to the TIOH chip
numbers listed below or the standard sample.

3. Hard (Vitreous) enamel shall be smooth and flush with the dikes; however, the
enamel need not be stoned.
4. Epoxy resin (stoning epoxy) may be used in lieu of hard enamel at the option of
manufacturer. Epoxy resin shall be smooth and flush with the dikes; however, the epoxy
need not be stoned.
5. Piercing shall be as indicated.
6. The enamel for Dash No. -2 shall match Chip No. 37038 of FED-STD-595.
7. Dash No. -1 and -3 may be manufactured using 22 karat gold plate with nickel
underplating and a mirror-like polished finish which shall match TIOH Metal Finish Chip
Number 9 for commercial sale only.
8. Attaching device shall be two prongs and clutches located horizontally on the torch
and the wing. For Dash No. -1 and -2, the prongs shall be 1 inch + 1/8 inch apart and for
Dash No. -3, the prongs shall be 9/16 inch + 1/32 inch apart. The prongs shall be located at
the intersection of the horizontal center line of the torch and wing.
