ATTACHING DEVICE:
1: The attaching device shall be prong and clutch type.
2: Prongs shall be located on the horizontal center line and equidistant from each end.
For regular size, the prongs shall be 2 inches + 1/64 inch apart. For miniature size and
dress miniatures, the prongs shall be 1 inch + 1/64 inch apart.
NOTES:
1. The term (REF) refers to the measurements taken from the Government furnished
hub or die.
2. Piercing shall be as indicated.
3. Enameled areas shall be light blue soft enamel and shall conform to TIOH Color Chip
No. 30 or the standard sample.
4. Epoxy resin (stoning epoxy) may be used in lieu of soft enamel at the option of the
manufacturer. Epoxy resin shall be smooth and flush with the bottom of the rifle. The
epoxy need not be stoned.
5. The dull, flat black enamel for -21 through -24 shall match FED-STD-595, Chip
Number 37038.
6. A forcer may be used to bring up the musket only.
7. Pierced areas for the dress miniatures shall be as indicated below:
-17: As indicated.
-18: As indicated except no piercing under star.
-19: Between the two stars only (center area).
-20: Between the three stars only (center area).
8. Silver colored badges may be nickel or rhodium plated with a mirror-like polished finish
for commercial sale and shall match TIOH Metal Finish Chip Number 16. The silver plating
requirement shall not apply for nickel or rhodium plated insignia.
