6. The designs shown are illustrative of the female lapel buttons. The male designs are
identical to the female except for the omission of the lugs and the addition of a prong and
pick with flat ball type catch.
7. The lug for Dash No. -2, -4, -6, and -8 shall be an integral part of the base and shall
be cut into the working die. The lug shall be 1/8 inch ± 1/64 inch (0.318 cm ± 0.04 cm)
outside diameter with a 1/16 inch ± 1/64 inch (0.159 cm ± 0.04 cm) diameter hole centered
inside the lug. Each lapel button shall have a jump ring 3/16 inch ± 1/64 inch (0.476 cm ±
0.04 cm) outside diameter wire mounted through the lug. The jump ring shall be formed
from 0.035 inch ± 0.005 inch (0.089 cm ± 0.013 cm) diameter brass wire. The ends of the
wire shall be either straight or bias cut and shall be aligned and together. The jump ring
shall have the same finish as the base.
8. Attaching device for Dash No. -1, -3, -5, and -7 shall be prong with pick and flat ball
type clutch. The prong shall be centered on the reverse side and fused or soldered to the
lapel button.
