1. The term (REF) refers to the measurements taken from the Government furnished
hub and die.
2. Enameled/epoxied areas shall be as shown. When hard enamel is used, the material
requirement shall be gilding metal. When epoxy is used, the material requirement shall be
either red brass or gilding material. Colors shall conform to TIOH Hard Enamel Color Chip
Numbers listed below:

3. Pierced areas shall be as indicated.
4. The pendant shall be fabricated in two pieces and soft soldered together after being
enameled/epoxied. The parting line between the base and device shall not be visible after
finishing.
5. The lug shall be formed from a half circle of brass wire and shall be soldered in the
location shown. The lug for -1 shall be formed from 0.050 ± 0.003 inch diameter wire and
shall have an outside diameter of 1/4 ± 1/64 inch. The lug for -2 shall be formed from
0.025 ± 0.002 inch diameter wire and shall have an outside diameter of 1/8 ± 1/64 inch.
6. A forcer may be used to bring up the details of the eagle and the device.
7. Decoration set shall consist of a regular size medal, a service ribbon, and a lapel
button all packaged in a presentation case conforming to MIL-DTL-14633, Type VIII, Style
7 with a Class 1, 1A, or 3 pad.
8. The ribbon for the pendant drape and service ribbon shall conform to
MIL-DTL-11589/179. The pendant drape for -1 shall measure 1-7/8 inches ± 1/16 inch in
length.
