FINISH (-1 and -2): Silver Plated, Oxidized, Buffed Relieved, Matte Finish and shall match The
Institute of Heraldry (TIOH) Metal Finish Chip Number 14. The pendant s reverse surface shall
be made smooth for engraving.
EPOXY (-1 and -2): Epoxy shall be applied to the obverse of the pendant as indicated above
and as specified below, and shall match TIOH Hard Enamel Color Chip Number listed. Hard
cloisonné enamel may be used in lieu of epoxy. If hard cloisonné enamel is used, the required
base material shall be Gilding Metal 95/5 (UNS Alloy C-210).

DECORATION SET AND PRESENTATION CASE: The decoration set shall consist of a regular
size medal, a miniature size medal, a service ribbon and a lapel button, all packaged in a
presentation case conforming to the latest version of MIL-C-14633, Type VIII, Style 6 with a
Class 3 or 4 pad.
PACKAGING: The use of any type of plastic packaging material shall be prohibited.
NOTES:
1. The term (REF) refers to the measurements taken from the Government furnished hub or
die.
2. The specification slash sheet for the pendant drape and service ribbon is
MIL-DTL-11589/174.
3. The specification slash sheet for the lapel button for the U.S. Navy is MIL-DTL-11484/38.
4. The specification slash sheet for the lapel button for the U.S. Marine Corps is
MIL-DTL-11484/37.
