NOTES:
1. The term (REF) refers to the measurements taken from the Government furnished
hub or die.
2. Profile device shall be attached to the base by means of two drive pins having a
minimum length of 1/8 inch. Drive pins shall be located on the vertical center line of the
device, equidistant from each end and shall be soldered, swaged or extruded as an integral
part of the profile. Drive pins shall not protrude or be noticeable on reverse of medal.
3. The shield device enameled/epoxied areas shall be as shown. Epoxy resin (stoning
epoxy) may be used at the option of the manufacturer. When hard enamel is used, the
material requirement shall be gilding metal. When epoxy is used, the material requirement
shall be either red brass or gilding material. Colors shall conform to TIOH Hard Enamel
Color Chip Numbers listed below:

4. The shield device shall be attached to the base using soft solder.
5. The shield device for Dash No. -2 is an integral part of the base.
6. When glued in place, the color of the plastic insert shall match Purple, Cable No. HP
67115 from the Department of Defense Standard Shades of Heraldic Yarns for Embroidery
and Ribbons (1993 Edition).
7. Plastic insert shall be glued in place using cellulose ester cement.
8. Enamel may be used in place of plastic insert for Dash No. -2. When hard enamel is
used, the material requirement shall be gilding metal. Enamel color shall be purple and
enamel color shall conform to TIOH Hard Enamel Color Chip Number 22.
9. Pendant ribbon ring for Dash No. -1 shall be formed from 0.57 inch ± .002 inch
diameter brass wire and shall have a rectangular design and an outside dimension of 15/32
inch ± 1/32 inch in width and 11/32 inch ± 1/32 inch in height.
10. Lug for Dash No. -1 shall not be completely drilled through but shall be drilled in a
minimum of 1/16 inch from each side. The hole shall be 1/16 inch + 1/32 inch -0 inch, in
diameter.
