NOTES:
1. The term (REF) refers to the measurements taken from the Government
furnished hub or die.
2. Piercing shall be as indicated.
3. The missile for the regular size badges (Dash No. -1, -2, and -3) shall be
superimposed and secured to the base by two rivets. The rivets shall be located on
the vertical center line of the missile, equidistant from each end and 1 inch + 1/16
inch (2.54 cm + 0.16 cm) apart. The missile for miniature size badges (Dash No. -
4, -5, and -6) shall be superimposed and secured to the base by one rivet. The
rivet shall be centered on the vertical center line of the missile. The missile may be
soldered to the base for both the regular and miniature size badges.
4. A forcer may be used to bring up the missile, star and wreath. When a forcer
is used to bring up the star, the prong located at the center of the star shall be a
free length of 5/16 + 1/64 inch inch (0.79 cm + 0.04 cm) when measured from the
back of the badge to the tip of the prong.
5. Attaching device shall be prong and clutch type located as follows:
a. Dash No. -1 and -4: The prongs shall be located on the vertical center line
of the badge, equidistant from each end and 2 inches + 1/64 inch (5.08 cm + 0.04
cm) apart for Dash No. -1 and 1-3/8 inch + 1/64 inch (3.49 cm + 0.04 cm) apart for
Dash No. -4.
