CONSTRUCTION DETAILS:
1. The base cloth for the letters shall be a plain weave.
2. Lettering shall be appliquéd to the base in the position shown (see The Institute of Heraldry
Drawing Number B-8-65). The appliqué thread shall be 50/3 ply soft cotton and use Stitch Type
304 with a 1/8 inch throw with 24-30 stitches per inch. The appliqué stitch shall completely cover
the edge of the lettering.
3. The loop shall be located on the vertical center line of the brassard with the base 1-1/4 inches +
1/16 inch below the top edge of the brassard and shall be attached to the back of the brassard as
shown. A bar tack may be used to secure the loop in lieu of box stitching at the option of the
manufacturer. However, the ends of the tape must be secured and completely covered by the
stitching. The thread for stitching the loop shall conform to Type IC2, 3 Ply, Ticket No. A of A-A-

4. The attaching device shall be hook and pile, Olive Green (Shade 106) and conform to Type II,
Class 1 of A-A-55126 The hook and pile fastener shall be positioned and secured to the base fabric
as shown using Stitch Type 301 with 12 stitches per inch.
5. Overedge stitching shall be superimposed around the complete border of the brassard. The
stitching shall conform to Stitch Type 504 or 505 with 24 stitches per inch. The cover thread shall
completely cover the cut edges of the brassard.
