NOTES:
1. The term (REF) refers to measurements taken from the Government
furnished hub or die.
2. For Dash No. -1, enamel color shall be blue for the background and
in the center of the star. The enamel color shall conform to the TIOH
chip number 18.
3. Epoxy resin (stoning epoxy) may be used in lieu of hard enamel at
the option of the manufacturer. Epoxy resin shall be a stoning epoxy,
have a shore D hardness of 85 and incorporate an ultraviolet inhibitor.
4. Attaching device for Dash No. -1 shall be prong and clutch type.
Prongs shall be located on a horizontal line 23/32 inch + 1/64 inch (1.83
cm + 0.04 cm) above the base of the insignia and 15/16 inch + 1/64 inch
(2.38 cm + 0.04 cm) apart.
5. For Dash No. -2, the dull, flat enamel color shall be Olive Drab
in the center of the star and in the recessed background area and shall
match FED-STD-595, Chip No. 34088. The dull, flat enamel color used in
the raised area for the star and the stripes shall be Black and match
FED-STD-595, Chip No. 37038.
6. Attaching device for Dash No. -2 shall be a brass prong and flat
ball clutch type. Prongs shall have 3 groves and be located on a
horizontal line 23/32 inch + 1/64 inch (1.83 cm + 0.04 cm) above the base
of the insignia and 15/16 inch + 1/64 inch (2.38 cm + 0.04 cm) apart.
7. Insignia may be rhodium plated, mirror-like polish at the option
of the manufacturer.
CHANGES FROM PREVIOUS ISSUE: Marginal notations are not used in this
revision to identify changes with respect to the previous issue due to the
extent of the changes.
