DETAIL SPECIFICATION
INSIGNIA, GRADE: ZINC
This detail specification is approved for use by the U.S. Marine Corps, Department of the
Navy, and is available for use by all departments and agencies of the Department of Defense.
1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This document covers requirements for zinc grade insignia for enlisted personnel
and junior reserve officers training corps.
1.2 Classification. The insignia will be furnished in pairs in the following types and classes
(see 6.2):
Type I - Enlisted Personnel
Type II - Junior Reserve Officers Training
Class 1 - Sergeant Major of the Marine
Corps
Corps
Class 1 - Sergeant Major
Class 2 - Sergeant Major
Class 2 - First Sergeant
Class 3 - Master Gunnery Sergeant
Class 3 - Gunnery Sergeant
Class 4 - First Sergeant
Class 4 - Staff Sergeant
Class 5 - Master Sergeant
Class 5 - Sergeant
Class 6 - Gunnery Sergeant
Class 6 - Corporal
Class 7 - Staff Sergeant
Class 7 - Lance Corporal
Class 8 - Sergeant
Class 8 - Private First Class
Class 9 - Corporal
Class 10 - Lance Corporal
Class 11 - Private First Class
